Laid Back Larry Allen - "Laid Back" Larry Allen was one of [US] Western Pennsylvania's top "Progressive Radio" Jocks back in the late 60's and early 70's during the Heyday of "Free Form" and "Progressive" Radio in the USA. Larry was one of the pioneer's of Progressive Rock on the airwaves starting at AM station WZUM (1590 - Carnegie, PA), and later moving, along with most of the other DJ's at WZUM, to FM station WYDD (104.7, New Kensington/Pittsburgh) in the mid 70's. For the next two to three years, "YDD" was THE place to tune in to hear everything from Brian Auger to Renaissance to Zappa - basically anything that they got their hands on that sounded good made it on the air.

It doesn't work that way in 'radio' today, of course, and pioneers were the ones who got the arrows in their backs. But Larry still volunteers some time to bring back this great programming 'format' (that term used only descriptively here) for community venues and other outlets - now including CoolStreams! Larry probably knows more songs from the 70's than all of the kids working the 'classic rock' formats today know combined. So kick back or do whatever you do while you listen to one of the masters of the craft weave them together the way he used to back when radio was more of an art form than a bottom line oriented business.
