More Info: |
| The
Copyright office has finally released the fee schedule for
Webcasting Royalties that will impact us and everyone
else trying to legally stream music on the internet.
It is not good news for us or for YOU. Please
take a few minutes to look at these articles linked here so
you understand what we are up against and why we may have to
change things on Music Sojourn.
These Royalties are on top of
the Thousands of Dollars we already pay for ASCAP, BMI and
SESAC artist performance Royalties. These NEW
Royalties will be paid to the RECORD COMPANIES, not
the artists in most cases. |

| WHEN Will This Happen? |
|
| If the proposal
of the Copyright office is accepted as currently written, on
May 21. We will possibly have to pay thousands of
dollars of current, plus retroactive royalties by July 1. |

Action: |
| In addition to
staying informed about developments with this issue Here and
at the links above, WRITE to your Elected Representatives.
As we learn more details about other specific things that
you can do, we will post them here.
We don't have to tell you how
hard it is to find music like you hear on Echoes, FM Odyssey
or Celtic Currents on the Radio - many of you who lost
hearing Echoes on the Radio can only find it online at Music
Sojourn.
Please write a note to your
Congressman and/or Senator (and send a copy to your local
newspaper editor) to let them know the same things that you
have let us know - how you feel about this. Some VERY
GOOD things to add include:
- Info about how hearing
this music streamed over Music Sojourn often prompts you
to PURCHASE the music on CDs
- How hard or impossible it
would be for you to ever hear or find this music from
other sources.
