On 20 April 2009 I spoke with guitarist and vocalist Lisa Walker of Wussy. Wussy is a four-piece rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio fronted by songwriters Chuck Cleaver and Lisa Walker. Their third album was released that same day and combines the more immediate, noisy elements of Funeral Dress with the improved musicianship and sonic palette of Left for Dead. Lisa helps us explore the roots and reason of their "midwestern velvet racket".

We hear about how this combo came together to record “Hit that Jive” and future recording plans.

He either grew up either in Detroit or Memphis, or he "hatched out of a fireball from space", or it is something altogether different.  We hear how he struggled for years as a typical (un-mitted) blues guitarist playing the coffee house and yuppie bar circuit.  Back then, he was known simply as "Johnson". Everything changed one night when he opened for Hot Glove Simms in Nashville. Here songs like "Christianity Is Stupid", "I Am God", and "Theme From A Big 10-8 Place" take on new life in a multi-part vocal harmony presentation as an homage to their pastor, Reverend Al "Sugar" Sweet.
