  • Spanic Boys - The father and son rock and roll duo the Spanic Boys are considered to be among the founding artists such as Los Lobos, Steve Earle, the Blasters and others who helped to define the "Americana music" genre. "Their songs are not museum pieces, they are startling, infectious pieces of contemporary rock that show just how much can be accomplished with just two voices, two guitars and a crack rhythm section," said David Wild, Rolling Stone magazine. Celebrating their 20th anniversary of playing together professionally in 2006, Tom and Ian Spanic have appeared on many national TV shows including Saturday Night Live, Late Night With David Letterman and Late Night With Conan O'Brien, and their songs have been featured in numerous TV shows, movies, commercials and even video games.  In their 20 years playing together, the Spanic Boys have toured extensively in the U.S., Canada and Europe. In this interview, Ian recounts the band's career and where they are at with the release of their new CD.
        

  • Stark Effect - "A 'mic in track' is a recording made on a PC using MusicMatch Jukebox, a music utility packaged with many new PC's that allows the user to record from the microphone input of the PC's sound card and save the recording in mp3 format. The default filename is 'mic in track' followed by a number.  If that user also happens to be running a peer-to-peer file-sharing program, and unwittingly shares the directory in which the mic in track is stored, then these personal recordings can be easily downloaded from the user's computer. The vast majority of them are either silent or uninteresting, but many are like Christmas presents giftwrapped in nondescript serial numbers. They represent unique examples of audio vérité."   In this interview, Stark Effect discusses the creations he has made using mic in track source material and future projects making them available on disc.

The Stepbrothers full-length "Baby It's Over", recorded at Sweatbox Studios, and produced by Mike Mariconda, is another excellent rock and roll album from Licorice Tree Records. In this interview, Mike discusses the switching from being producer to being a production and that absolute lack of any connection between his previous group Raunch Hands and the '60s Epic comedy bluegrass ensemble of the same name.
